摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an increase in weight of an internal combustion engine by making compact a circumference of an oil path section toward a cam phase varying device. <P>SOLUTION: An engine 1 is provided with an advancing angle annular groove 49 and a retarding angle annular groove 46 formed on a bearing surface of a first journal bearing wall 15. A spool valve 35 is placed along the first journal bearing wall. A retarding angle oil path 44 is equipped with a first oil path 47 which is formed on a joint surface 20 between a cam cap 18 and a cam holder 16 and is connected to the retarding angle annular groove 46, and a second oil path 48 which is formed on the cam holder 16 and connects the spool valve 35 and the first oil path 47. An advancing angle oil path 43 is equipped with a third oil path 50 which is formed on the cam holder 16 and is connected to the spool valve 35 and the advancing angle annular groove 49.
