<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-swellable sheet excellent in swelling anisotropy, swelling in the thickness direction and hardly swells in the in-plane direction when impregnated with an aqueous component, which can be expected to be used in applications such as an organ adhesion preventing film for preventing organ adhesion in surgery, a bandage for wound healing, a wound covering film, a sheet for cooling, a cushion sheet for organ preservation, a body fluid absorbing sheet, and a cell cultivation sheet.SOLUTION: A water-swellable sheet is made from polysaccharide as raw material. The polysaccharide is a liquid crystalline polysaccharide having a weight average molecular weight of 4,000,000 to 60,000,000, having a rate of change in linear swelling in the thickness direction of 1,000% or more, and a rate of change in linear swelling in the in-plane direction of 10% or less.</p> |
