CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR DIESEL ENGINE

This control device for a diesel engine is equipped with: a turbocharger that coaxially connects an intake compressor with an exhaust turbine and compresses intake air by driving the intake compressor by means of the energy of exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust turbine; and a fresh air/secondary air supply unit that supplies fresh air or secondary air to an exhaust passage disposed upstream of the exhaust turbine. The control device for the diesel engine is equipped with: a gas-flow stagnation region determination means that determines whether or not the engine operation condition or state of the turbocharger is in a gas-flow stagnation region; and a fresh air/secondary air supply means that supplies fresh air or secondary air to the exhaust passage disposed upstream of the exhaust turbine using the fresh air/secondary air supply unit when the engine operation condition or the state of the turbocharger is in the gas-flow stagnation region.
