<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light modulator capable of compensating a phase difference between output light of the light modulator and monitor light, and having a simple structure which can be miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: The light modulator includes a substrate 1, a light waveguide 2 containing a Mach-Zehnder type light waveguide formed on the substrate 1, and a modulation electrode for modulating the light wave which propagates in the light waveguide. A light receiving element 3 is arranged so as to straddle an output waveguide 20 that constitutes the Mach-Zehnder type light waveguide. The light receiving element is configured to receive both of two beams of radiation light (radiation light propagating in radiation light waveguide 21 and 22) radiated from a multiplexing section of the Mach-Zehnder type light waveguide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
