<p>An urban flood rescue training simulator is disclosed comprising a reconfigurable obstacle system for a river channel which may be indoors or outdoors. The obstacles 106, 107, 109 may include hollow structural boxes, strut channel frames and a plurality of connectors that cooperate to divert water when installed in the river channel. The connectors may pass through the obstacles to secure them in position. The obstacle assemblies can be reconfigured as desired eg. to increase amplitude of a wave, to speed up or slow down water flow and change depth. The water may be still or rapid, clear or discoloured by brown dye. The water is pumped from from a pumping station 110 to flood the simulator and may be varied to increase the water velocity. Further obstacles may comprise houses and shops 104 lining the borders 105 of the river channel, street lamps, telephone poles and wires, drains, benches, fences, walls, railings, dustbins, street signs, bus shelters, pavement kerbs and vehicles 101parked and abandoned in random positions, exposed internal rooms of homes, with specific environments zoned and sectioned off to enable the selection of different levels of training difficulty for different rescue scenarios.</p> |
