Disclosed is a distributed CMTS (CMRTS) device with software reconfigurable. The device is based on an MAC unit and a PHY unit having FPGA and DSP assemblies for an HFC CATV system. Various CATV RF modems of QAM modems can be divided between the QAM modems positioned at cable equipment and remote QAM modems ideally positioned at an optical fiber node. A basic set of CATV QAM data waveform can be selectively transmitted to the node via a first optical fiber, and a second IP/on-demand data set can employ a replaced optical fiber or a replaced optical fiber frequency and can be selectively transmitted to the node via other protocols such as the Ethernet protocol. The node extracts data specified in each field and inputs the data to an unused channel, and the data transmission rate is improved via finer intervals. The invention also discloses a virtual infrastructure control system for managing and reconfiguring the CMRTS unit based on FPGA and DSP. |
