The present invention provides a dimming device exhibiting good visual quality throughout the entire range of the dimming level of an illumination load using LEDs and an illumination system using the same. A dimming device (9) includes a control unit, operation units (981, 982), a pair of multiple transmission signal terminals (95), a pair of load terminals (98) and a power terminal (97). The control unit (2) receives a control signal, transmitted in a multiplexed transmission method, from the pair of multiplexed transmission signal terminals (95) and controls a dimming level of the illumination load having the LEDs according to the control signal. The operation units (981, 982) are arranged to be freely variable and set an upper limit and a lower limit of the illumination load connected to the pair of load terminals (98). The control unit controls the dimming level of the illumination load within the range set by the operation units (981, 982). |
