The present invention relates to an information processing system which displays candidates of displayed character strings of phrases corresponding to input character strings set to correspond to operation of inputting characters in a terminal device (1). The terminal device obtains internal candidates (list (A)) by performing search by the input character strings and transmits a candidate transmission request signal, including the input character strings and identification information of a dictionary for the terminal device stored in the equipment, to a server (2). The server (2) performs search by using the dictionary for the terminal device and a dictionary for the sever dedicated to the equipment to correspond to the identification information in the received candidate transmission request signal. The server (2) transmits dictionary data (list (B)), different from dictionary data (list (D)) extracted from the dictionary for the terminal device in dictionary data (list (E)) extracted from the dictionary for the server, back to the terminal device (1). The terminal device (1) makes a final candidate list (C) in which displayed character strings of each candidate in list (A) and list (B) are arranged based on proprieties. |
