<p>Disclosed is a method of injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine comprises a plurality of cylinders, each of which has an associated piston. The method comprises simultaneously applying different injection patterns to at least two of the cylinders based on the initial position of the respective cylinders. The pattern may include a plurality of injections and may include an injection before a piston starts to move. The method may be used with an idle stop-start engine. The patterns may include an engine starting pattern and a normal engine operation pattern and each pattern may be applied to different groups of cylinders simultaneously.</p> |
