A system to aid a visually impaired musician to learn musical notation includes a microprocessor 16 with the memory18 adapted to store musical notation, and a plurality of transducers 14 operatively attached to the microprocessor. The transducers are in contact with a part of the body of the musician and in response to the musical notation the microprocessor is configured to signal the transducers to provide a tactile sensation to the part of the musician. The body part of the musician may be a foot, wherein the five toes of the foot correspond to the five lines of the musical stave. The transducers may be incorporated into a shoe or sock adapted to be worn on the foot. The system may include a camera 12 for recognising and storing printed musical notes, which are in the field of view of the musician, in a suitable format in the memory. The system may include a microphone 11 configured to record the playing of a musician and to provide feedback that can consist of an incorrect note, pitch, or note duration. A speaker 13 may be included to play, out loud, notes as represented by the musical notation.
|
