A method of manufacturing a sliding bearing component for an engine, e.g. bearing shell 100, having a sliding surface provided by a plastic polymer-based layer 104 on a metallic substrate 102 is provided. The method comprises: providing a deposition mixture of water and at least one other solvent selected from the group consisting of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone, the deposition mixture further comprising polyamide-imide polymer; depositing a coating of the deposition mixture on the metallic substrate; and curing the coating to form the plastic polymer-based layer. The sliding bearing component is also disclosed. |
