This is for a new method of being able to apply coherent change detection and autofocus processes to sub-aperture algorithms. The method involves generating a plurality of sub-images that are associated with a target via the synthetic aperture radar. The processor 608 then combines (e.g. adds) the sub-images together using the sub-aperture algorithm to generate an intermediate image. The processer then applies a phase shift to the intermediate image to generate a final output image. The phase shift could also be applied to the intermediate image on a pixel-by-pixel basis. There is also an apparatus that carries out this method, and this device could be attached to an aircraft. It may apply a phase shift to the intermediate image on a pixel-by-pixel basis. The phase shift may be a function of a distance between the aircraft position and the pixel position, and there may be a coherent change detection algorithm that is based on the phase shift.
|
