The present invention relates to a process of forming a polymer, the process comprising polymerizing olefin monomers to form a reaction mixture, treating the reaction mixture to form a first polymer-rich phase, treating the first polymer-rich phase to form a second polymer-rich phase, and devolatilizing the second polymer-rich phase, the process further comprising at least one step of adjusting the temperature of a first and/or the second polymer-rich phase before the devolatilization. The present invention also relates to a plant that is useful for the process provided above. |

1. A plant for forming a polymer comprising:
a reactor for polymerizing monomers to form a reaction mixture; a first separator downstream of the reactor for treating the reaction mixture to form a first polymer-rich phase; a second separator downstream of the first separator for treating the first polymer-rich phase to form a second polymer-rich phase; a devolatilizer downstream of the second separator for removing volatile component(s) from the second polymer-rich phase to obtain the polymer; and two or more temperature adjustment units for adjusting the temperature of the first and/or the second polymer-rich phases at one or more locations downstream of the first separator and upstream of the devolatilizer, where at least a first temperature adjustment unit for adjusting the temperature of the first polymer-rich phase is located downstream of the first separator and upstream of the second separator, and a second temperature adjustment unit for adjusting the temperature of the second polymer-rich phase is located downstream of the second separator and upstream of the devolatilizer. |
