The present invention relates to an antibacterial composition including an extract of Cornus officinalis. More specifically, the present invention relates to an antibacterial and antifungal composition including thermal water of Cornus officinalis or an ethanol extract, and fractions of the organic solvent. The extract of Cornus officinalis and the fractions thereof of the present invention exhibit excellent antibacterial activity and thus can be used for the purpose such as an antibacterial and/or antifungal pharmaceutical composition, health functional food, a cosmetic composition, an animal feed composition, additives for food, cosmetics, or animal feed, and various kinds of cleaners. Moreover, the extract of Cornus officinalis and the fractions thereof of the present invention has excellent thermal stability, does not loose activity even in an acid condition of pH 2 and in blood plasma and thus can be easily processed into various forms such as liquid, cream, powder, pellets, and tablets. Therefore, the extract of Cornus officinalis and the fractions thereof can be very advantageously used for a pharmaceutical industry, a food industry, a livestock industry, a sanitation industry, and a cosmetic industry. |
