The present invention provides a composition for preventing or treating skin damaged by ultraviolet rays containing composite plant extracts of Psidium guajava, Sasa borealis (Hack.) Makino, Curcuma longa L., Cynanchum wilfordii and Acanthopanax koreanum as active ingredients. The composite plant extracts of the present invention can be helpfully used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating skin damaged by ultraviolet rays or active ingredients of a cosmetic composition for alleviating skin damaged by ultraviolet rays through markedly increasing the proliferation rate of epidermis keratinocytes and fibroblasts of skin damaged by ultraviolet rays.
