摘要 <p>The present invention relates to an apparatus for processing restoration of smear and improving a low luminance image based on an adaptive probability capable of improving a number recognition performance of an LPR system by correcting distortion of an image generated in low illuminance and high illuminance areas. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for processing restoration of smear and improving low luminance image based on the adaptive probability in an LPR system comprises: a photographing module on which a CCD sensor is mounted, and for photographing an original image containing a number plate of a vehicle using the CCD sensor; and a number recognizing module for receiving the original image photographed by the photographing module to recognize the number of the number plate of the vehicle. The number recognizing module furthermore includes: a determining part for classifying the original image into one among a low illuminance image, a high illuminance image, and an unprocessed image based on determination factors related to the original image; and an image processing part for generating a corrected image using the original image. The image processing part furthermore includes: a low illuminance image processing part for generating the corrected image from the original image by using the advanced clipped histogram equalization if the original image is classified into the low illuminance image by the determining part; and a high illuminance image processing part for generating the corrected image by removing smear generated in the original image if the original image is classified into the high illuminance image by the determining part.</p>
