A printing apparatus comprises: a dispatching roller which dispatches a printing sheet stacked on a stacking unit; a returning roller which returns the printing sheet dispatched by the dispatching roller; a printing unit which prints the printing sheet returned by the returning roller; a return control unit which controls the return of the printing sheet to allow a rear edge of a precedence sheet, which is a printing sheet, dispatched at the very first from the stacking unit and a front edge of a follow-up sheet, which is a printing sheet, subsequently dispatched from the stacking unit to be overlapped with each other; and a determining unit which determines whether or not the follow-up sheet should be returned to a location where the follow-up sheet faces the printing unit, remaining the overlap state between the precedence sheet and the follow-up sheet. |
