摘要 In one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a first gate line and a second gate line extending in a first direction, respectively. A first source line and a second source line extend in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction. A pixel electrode includes a first main pixel electrode in the shape of a belt located on an edge of the first source line and extending in the second direction, and a second main pixel electrode in the shape of a belt located on an edge of the second source line and extending in the second direction. A second substrate includes a main common electrode located between the first main pixel electrode and the second main pixel electrode and extending in the second direction.

A liquid crystal display device, comprising: a first substrate including; a first gate line and a second gate line extending in a first direction, respectively,an auxiliary capacitance line arranged between the first gate line and the second gate line and extending in the first direction,a first source line and a second source line extending in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction,a switching element connected with the first gate line and the first source line, anda pixel electrode having a first main pixel electrode in the shape of a belt located on an edge of the first source line and extending in the second direction, a second main pixel electrode in the shape of a belt located on an edge of the second source line and extending in the second direction, and a first sub-pixel electrode located on the auxiliary capacitance line and connected with the switching element, wherein the first sub-pixel electrode is formed in the shape of a belt, connects the first main pixel electrode with the second main pixel electrode, and extends in the first direction; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a first optical element having a first polarization axis arranged on an external surface of the first substrate; a second optical element having a second polarization axis arranged on an external surface of the second substrate, wherein one of the first and second polarization axes is set substantially in parallel with the extending direction of the first and second main pixel electrodes, and the other is set substantially in orthogonal with the extending direction of the first and second main pixel electrodes; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate having liquid crystal molecules.
