The method involves classifying and allocating software modules (2, 4) to control devices (8, 10) based on security-relevant classification features, where security integrity levels are taken as the security-relevant classification features. Verification is made to find whether the classification features fulfill the control device, so that the software module is allocated to the control device based on fulfilled features. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for distributing software modules to control devices (2) a computer program with program codes for executing a method for distributing software modules to control devices (3) a computer program product for executing a method for distributing software modules to control devices.
