PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating aggression and/or similar behavioral syndromes including irritability and impulsivity in humans.SOLUTION: The method of the invention comprises the steps of: a) selecting active agents with known activity on dopaminergic, serotonergic, or GABAergic receptors; b) conducting a receptor screening assay with the selected active agents to identify activity on additional receptors to have known association with aggressive behavior; c) determining whether the activity is agonistic or antagonistic; d) choosing active agents that target the most diverse types of aggression-associated receptors (for example, pharmaceuticals exhibiting D2 antagonistic activity and D5 antagonistic activity at the same time) from the screened active agents based on the results of the steps b) and c); e) optimizing the total dose of the active agent(s) based on the results of the steps b) through d); and f) administering the dose of step e) to the subject. |
