PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source capable of thinning and lightening a display incorporated, using less lamps, and making an illumination homogeneous by an efficient optical mixture.SOLUTION: A light source disclosed comprises: an optical reflection cavity including an input port for receiving light, an output port for transmitting light, and a lamp arranged in the input port; and optical stack arranged in the output port. The optical stack includes: a front scattering light diffusion body arranged in the output port and having an optical haze of about 20% or more; and an optical film arranged over that scattering light diffusion body. The optical film intensifies the total internal reflection in a boundary face between the optical film and the light diffusion body. The optical film has a refractive index of about 1.3 or less, and an optical haze of about 5% or less. The optical stack also has a reflection polarizer layer arranged over the optical film. The corresponding portions of the adjoining two main surfaces in the optical stack contact each other physically. |
