Provided are a culturing method and device whereby intestinal flora can be cultured while the compositional balance thereof remains substantially unchanged, and a cultured flora cultured by this culturing method and freeze-dried. In the present invention, individual intestinal flora are cultured in an anaerobic environment using a medium to which a lower fatty acid (having a carbon number of 2 to 7) is added, and culturing is thereby performed while the compositional balance (composition) of cell groups in the intestinal flora remains substantially unchanged. The lower fatty acid includes at least butyric acid. Butyric acid is preferably added to the medium. The medium is prepared so as to have a pH in the range of 6.0 to 7.0. In the anaerobic environment, the medium is continuously aerated with nitrogen as an anaerobic gas. |
