摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller mechanism configured to improve measurement force control and repeatability in a caliper in an economical, ergonomically convenient, repeatable, and intuitively understandable manner.SOLUTION: A flexible roller mechanism is provided for moving a caliper jaw relative to a caliper spar. The roller mechanism includes a rotary bearing member 210, a rotary actuation member 220 and a flexible coupling element 230. The rotary bearing member is coupled to the caliper jaw and may engage the caliper spar. The rotary actuation member is actuated by a user to apply a measuring force. The flexible coupling element is configured to flexibly couple the rotary actuation member to the rotary bearing member. Using the flexible roller mechanism, the user is able to apply a more consistent amount of measurement force than could typically be achieved with a conventional rigid thumb roller in the caliper.
