<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device and a copying machine, which allow a transfer mode suitable for the size of a document to be selected.SOLUTION: An image reading device has a long-size mode for reading a long document having length in a transfer direction of over predetermined length. Depending on whether the device is in the long size mode or not, document transfer is permitted when the device is in the long size mode and in a state of "corner guide" where the long document placed on a document tray at a position on the side of a guide wall lateral to the document tray is transferred by being guided by the guide wall, and document transfer is permitted when the device is not in the long size mode and in a state of "center guide" where the document placed on the document tray at a place near the center in a width direction of the document tray by a pair of guide members is transferred by being guided by the pair of guide members.</p> |
