A laminate that comprises a thermoplastic-resin substrate and a polyvinyl-alcohol-resin layer formed on top of said thermoplastic-resin substrate, and via a post-process that is performed after the polyvinyl-alcohol-resin layer formed on top of the thermoplastic-resin substrate is stretched together with said thermoplastic-resin substrate and includes a dyeing step in which a dichroic material is used to dye the polyvinyl-alcohol-resin layer, is used to form a polarizing film comprising the polyvinyl-alcohol-resin layer that has been treated by the aforementioned post-process, wherein the polyvinyl-alcohol-resin layer contains a polyvinyl-alcohol resin and a halide.
