This invention is provided with the following: a detection unit that, from media to which issuance-period information that allows the issuance period of each medium to be identified has been added, detects said issuance-period information and the degree to which each medium is damaged; a memory unit that stores sorting conditions for sorting the aforementioned media into first media, which are specified via the aforementioned issuance-period information and damage levels indicating the degree to which each medium is damaged, and second media, which are media that are not first media; and a storage section in which the first media, i.e. the media detected by the detection unit that meet the aforementioned sorting conditions, are stored separately from the second media. The issuance-period information may consist of unique identifying numbers added to the media, and the sorting conditions may be specified via said identifying numbers and the abovementioned damage levels. Within the sorting conditions, a degree of damage may be set for each of a plurality of issuance periods. |
