A method of reconstructing an ultrasound image of a region of a body with reduced receiving artifacts, comprising: a) transmitting into the region an ultrasound beam, consecutively for a plurality of transmitting directions with a characteristic angular spread; b) generating receiver data signals of ultrasound echoes of the transmitted beam, for each transmitting direction, by an array of ultrasound sensor elements according to echoes they receive; c) identifying locations in the imaging region for which the receiver data signals show a localized strong echo; d) separating a strong echo component of data, due to the strong echoes, from a background component of data that excludes the strong echo component; e) reconstructing the image within the region, using only the background component, or using only the strong echo component, or using both the background component and the strong echo component but processing the strong echo component and background component differently. |
