[Problem] To provide a compound which emits fluorescence and delayed fluorescence as a material for a high-efficiency organic electroluminescent element; and to provide, using this compound, an organic photoluminescent element and a high-efficiency and high-luminance organic electroluminescent element. [Solution] A spiro compound having an azafluorene ring structure, represented by general formula (1); and an organic electroluminescent element which has a pair of electrodes and one or more organic layers sandwiched therebetween, characterized in that the compound is used in at least one of the organic layers as a constituent material.
