A cellulose acetate tow band for use in cigarette filters, in which the denier of each filament is 5.0 deniers or more, and the feret area of each filament is 0.5 or more and/or the ratio (i.e., a S/L ratio) of the cross sectional area (S) of each filament to the perimeter (L) of the cross section of each filament is 5 or more. The denier of each filament may be 10 deniers or less, the feret area may be 0.9 or less, and the S/L ratio may be 9 or less. In a tow band production apparatus and a tow band production method, a circular spinneret (10) having a diameter of 50 μm or more is used. The diameter of the circular spinneret (10) may be 100 μm or less. |
