A processing apparatus is described which comprises a processing chamber (12, 52, 64), a microwave transmission device (14) operable to transmit microwaves into the processing chamber, a conveyor arrangement (16) operable to convey materials to be processed into and through the processing chamber, and a scraper (22, 40, 54) serving to clean at least part of the internal wall (12a) of the processing chamber to limit a build up of materials thereon.
