The present invention provides a battery module which includes: a battery cell stack on which a plurality of battery cells or unit modules connected in series and/or parallel are erectly stacked in a lateral direction, voltage sensing members which are electrically connected to an electrode terminal connection part of the battery cells located on the front and rear sides of the battery cell stack and include connection terminals for detecting a voltage of the unit module or the battery cell on the ends thereof, a top case which has a structure to surround a part of the upper and lower ends and the end of one side of the battery cell stack and includes a mounting part into which the voltage sensing members are inserted to be mounted, and a bottom case which has a structure to be combined with the top case by surrounding the part of the upper and lower ends and the end of the other side of the battery cell stack and includes an external input and output terminal on the front side thereof. The voltage sensing unit is formed with a receptacle structure to be fitted into the electrode terminal connection part from the upper side. The mounting part is formed with the structure with a width which becomes narrower in the direction where the electrode terminal connection part is inserted.
