PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a lithium composite metal oxide usable as a positive-electrode active material of a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery even in a firing environment containing carbon dioxide at a concentration higher than the concentration in air.SOLUTION: The method for producing the lithium composite metal oxide comprises mixing of a lithium compound, Ni metal or its compound and one or more transition metal elements selected from Mn, Co, Ti, Cr and Fe, or its compound, and firing of the obtained raw material mixture at ≥630°C in an atmosphere having a carbon dioxide concentration of ≥1 and ≤15 vol.%. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the lithium composite metal oxide produced by the production metal as the positive-electrode active material exhibits charge and discharge characteristics comparable to a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using a lithium composite metal oxide produced in an air atmosphere free from carbon dioxide as the positive-electrode active material. |
