There are provided novel genome sequences of phytoplasmas belonging to the ribosomal group 16SrV, in particular of phytoplasmas responsible for flavescence dorée of grapevine. The invention further relates to the use of such sequences or fragments thereof for the diagnosis of pathologies caused to plants by such phytoplasmas, in particular for the diagnosis of flavescence dorée of grapevine.
