[Class 83 (iii)] The final tightening is applied to electrodes for arc furnaces by fluid pressure means, the initial assembly being effected by hand. After such assembly, rings 1, 2 that may have been suspended round the rods by hooks 11, are clamped to the respective rods by screws 5 and pressure fluid is admitted to cylinders 7 to advance pistons 6, the cylinders being connected to arms 4 projecting from one ring and the pistons to arms 3 projecting from the other.</p> |
