The present invention provides an apparatus for processing a streaming media service, comprising means for receiving a streaming media service request message sent by a terminal, wherein the streaming media service request message comprises a streaming media container type of the terminal; means for converting the container type of locally cached streaming media contents into the streaming media container type of the terminal, if the streaming media container type is different from a container type of locally cached streaming media contents; and means for sending streaming media contents with the converted container type to the terminal.
