The objective of the present invention is to provide a semiconductor device for driving a motor, which can improve the overvoltage resistance performance while suppressing increase of power loss. The semiconductor device comprises: an inverter circuit which outputs electricity to drive a motor by switching of a plurality of semiconductor switching devices (T1-T6); and driving circuits (KT, KB) which drive the semiconductor switching devices (T1-T6). The semiconductor device also comprises a zener diode (ZDP) for surge absorption which is connected between a power source voltage (VDC) of the inverter circuit and a ground voltage. The inverter circuit, the driving circuits (KT, KB) and the zener diode (ZDP) are sealed with a resin in order to form one package. The temperature of the inverter circuit, the driving circuits, and the zener diode increases, by the heating of the zener diode (ZDP). |
