<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internally illuminated sign which allows for easy internal maintenance and repair. <P>SOLUTION: An internally illuminated sign comprises a body frame having openings on the front and rear sides, respectively, and a cover body which is fixed to the body frame and openably closes the opening. The body frame has a U-shaped cross section, including a rising piece vertically rising from the edge of a frame wall. A lighting device composed of a plurality of LEDs arranged in a row spaced apart at a distance from one another in a space surrounded by the frame wall and the rising piece. Light from the lighting device passes through a display part of the cover body which is fixed to the body frame so as to be opposite to the rising piece, so that the sign is displayed. The sign is displayed by the light from the lighting device passing through the display part of the cover body, so that excellent visibility of the sign on the display part can be achieved even at night. The cover body is fixed to the body frame such that the opening is openably closed.
