The present invention discloses an apparatus for identifying an object, a method thereof, and a recording medium having a computer program recorded therefor. In other words, when learning a key point for identifying an object, the apparatus calculates feature information for an image by applying a feature pattern wherein a region is divided in the shape of a circle or a ring for the image and performs learning and object identification based on the calculated feature information, thereby improving a feature extracting performance for the object including a curved surface.
