A lighting system (1) comprises a light source (2) for providing a light beam (3) of directed non-diffused light with a first correlated color temperature along a main light beam direction (4), wherein a propagation direction of the directed non-diffused light is modified across the light beam (3) and is essentially parallel to the main light beam direction (4) in an inner area and is increasingly inclined with respect to the main light beam direction (4) with increasing distance from the inner area; and a lamp shade-like structure (10) comprising a bottom unit (12) to be illuminated from the light source (2) at one side and a screen structure (14) provided at an opposite side, the bottom unit (12) and the screen structure (14) defining a light passage (46). The bottom unit (12) comprises a diffused light generator (20) for generating diffused light at a second correlated color temperature, which is larger than the first correlated color temperature, is at least partially transparent for the directed non-diffused light of the light beam (3), and is configured such that at least a divergent light beam portion (53) of the light beam (3) enters the light passage (46); and the screen structure (14) is spatially oriented with respect to the main light beam direction (54) of the divergent light beam portion (53) to be illuminated by at least a part of the divergent light beam portion (53), thereby providing an illuminated screen section (394, 395) acting as a scattered light source.
