An image display device and a method for operating the same is disclosed. The method of controlling the display device may include acquiring user account authentication information including facial recognition information captured through a camera, performing a login operation using a user account corresponding to the acquired authentication information, and outputting a home screen corresponding to the login user account among a plurality of home screens. The home screens are different for each user account. The home screen includes an application menu screen including a plurality of application items and a broadcast-related object including at least one of a favorite channel object, channel browser object for providing a thumbnail list of broadcast channels, a RESERVATION/REC object for providing a program reservation list or a recorded program list, a TV GUIDE object for providing a broadcast program guide list or a setup object used to set various setting of the multifunctional display device. |
