Ammonia storage structure and associated systems and method

The structure (7) comprises a storage layer for storing ammonia, a thermally material conductive layer whose thermal conductivity is greater than that of the storage layer, where the thermally conductive material layer increases heat transfer within the structure. The thermally conductive layer consists of a previously compressed material powder. The storage layer includes a rigid compressed or uncompressed wafer. The number of thermally conducting layers in the structure is 1-30. Independent claims are included for: (1) a ammonia storage system containing storage structure for storing and delivering ammonia from a vehicle; (2) a selective catalytic reduction system comprising a ammonia storage system for exhaust ammonia gas from an internal combustion engine; and (3) a method for fabricating a storage structure.
