<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of stably performing development over a long period of time without forming an accumulation layer of a developer in a developing device. <P>SOLUTION: A developing device is equipped with a driving control for changing a driving speed ratio of each conveyance screw and a driving control for changing an opening width ratio of two communication parts Z for connecting each developer conveyance path. One or in combination of these driving controls are performed to reduce the amount of a developer in the developer conveyance path in which the conveyance screw is provided so that any one of the conveyance screws is exposed. Then, when the amount of the developer in the developer conveyance path in which the amount of the developer is reduced is returned to the usual amount of the developer, the flow of the developer G is allowed to collide with an accumulation layer of a fixing agent G' in an exposed state.
