A variable displacement swash plate type compressor comprises an actuator (13) for changing the inclination angle of the swash plate (5) inside the swash plate chamber (25). Said actuator (13) includes a defining body (51c) provided on the drive shaft (3), a movable body (134) movable in axial direction of the drive shaft (3) and a control pressure chamber (13b) defined by the defining body (51c) and the movable body (134). A control mechanism (15) is configured to control the actuator (13), wherein refrigerant is introduced into the control pressure chamber (13b) via a supply passage (3a,3b) and discharged from the control pressure chamber (13b) via a bleed passage. Said bleed passage includes a throttle hole (57) formed in at least one of the defining body (51c) and the movable body (134). Lubricant is discharged through the throttle hole (57) together with the refrigerant gas. Consequently, in the compressor, the lubricant is less easily stored in the control pressure chamber (13b), and lubricant shortage in the swash plate chamber (25) less easily occurs.
