METHODS OF CORRECTING SATURATED PIXEL DATA AND PROCESSING IMAGE DATA USING THE SAME

To correct saturated pixel data, a weighted function which represents a correlation between the color values of a saturated pixel and the color values of a peripheral pixel is set. The weighted values of the peripheral pixels for the saturated pixel are calculated by using the weighted function. The weighted average value of color values of peripheral pixels are calculated by using the weighted values. The color value of the saturated pixel is corrected by the weighted average value. Natural color restoration result can be obtained by a relatively simple calculation without an additional process by using the weighted function, which reflects the correlation between different color channels. The reliability of corrected color value can be improved by selecting pixels used for correction based on the saturation of the peripheral pixel and correction result.
