A voice synthesis apparatus is disclosed. The voice synthesis apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises an electrode array part, if silent speech of a user exists, detecting an electromyogram signal from the skin of the user; a speech period detecting part detecting a silent speech period of the use; a characteristics extracting part extracting a signal descriptor having characteristics of the electromyogram signal during the silent speech period; and a voice synthesis part synthesizing voice by using the extracted signal descriptor.
