A rechargeable battery includes two or more series-connected rechargeable battery cells, a balancing rechargeable battery cell, and controllable switches with the same number as the rechargeable battery cells, a drive module for the controllable switches, a voltage detection module for detecting a voltage at two ends of the rechargeable battery cells, and a controller. The balancing rechargeable battery cell is connected in parallel to the rechargeable battery cells. The controllable switches control the turn on/off of the connection in parallel between the balancing rechargeable battery cell and each of the rechargeable battery cells independently. The drive module for the controllable switches and the voltage detection module are connected to the controller. A battery pack including the rechargeable battery and a method for real-time charge/discharge equalizing of the rechargeable battery are also provided. |

1. A basic unit for a rechargeable battery pack, comprising:
two or more serially-connected rechargeable battery cells; a balancing rechargeable battery cell configured to be separately connected, in parallel, with each of the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells during a charging operation or a discharging operation; and a controller configured to selectively connect the balancing rechargeable battery cell in parallel to one of the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells that has a highest voltage among the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells during a charging operation of the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells, wherein the controller is configured to selectively connect the balancing rechargeable battery cell in parallel to one of the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells that has a lowest voltage among the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells during a discharging operation of the serially-connected rechargeable battery cells. |
