A refrigerator (1) equipped with: a refrigeration compartment (3); a freezer compartment (4); a compressor (11); an evaporator (7); a cold air passage (6) that guides cold air to the refrigeration compartment (3) and the freezer compartment (4); a refrigeration compartment damper (21) that switches between permitting and preventing the flow of cold air in the cold air passage (6) between the refrigeration compartment (3) and the evaporator (7); a refrigeration compartment fan (9), which is arranged closer to discharge openings (6R) for the refrigeration compartment (3) than the refrigeration compartment damper (21) in the cold air passage (6), and which circulates cold air in the cold air passage (6); a return opening (6B), which is arranged closer to the discharge openings (6R) than the refrigeration compartment damper (21), and which returns cold air to the cold air passage (6); and an ion generation device (12) arranged between the return opening (6) and the discharge openings (6R). The refrigeration compartment damper (21) closes the return opening (6B) when the flow of cold air is generated between the refrigeration compartment (3) and the evaporator (7), and opens the return opening (6B) when the flow of cold air is not generated. |
