The present device for converting solar energy comprises at least one pair of substrates, each of which is configured in the form of a strip, at least one of said strips being shaped such as to have a periodically repeating profile which gives rise to trench-like cavities and being mounted such that the front surface of the strip can be connected to the rear surface of the second strip. The strips are shaped by bending. The profiles of at least one row of trenches are capable of forming a portion of a circumference and/or a portion of a hyperbola and/or a portion of a parabola and/or trenches with a flat, convex or concave base and inclined divergent side walls, wherein all of the trenches are provided with outwardly-facing edges corresponding to the contour of each trench, and a photoreceiving layer is applied to the operating surface of the trenches, and a photoreceiving layer or a reflective layer is applied to the borders of the trenches.
