The present invention relates to the field of wireless communications. Disclosed are a method and apparatus for managing a wireless termination point (WTP). The method comprises: receiving management information sent by at least one first wireless termination point (WTP); obtaining an identifier of a first local coordinator (LC) according to the management information, the first LC being a managing WTP in a WLAN; and sending, according to the identifier of the first LC, a joining request carrying an identifier of a second WTP to the first LC, so that the first LC manages the second WTP. The apparatus comprises a receiving module, an obtaining module, and a sending module. In the present invention, a WTP is managed by an AC and the WTP is managed with the assistance of an LC, and the WTP to be managed obtains an identifier of a first LC according to management information sent by other WTPs, so that the WTP can discover the first LC and can be managed by the first LC. |
