<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a flow of cooling water at a communication groove at a cylinder block having the communication groove at an inter-cylinder segment and at the same time facilitate work of the communication groove.SOLUTION: One reentrant part 16 of a pair of reentrant parts 16 positioned at locations of inter-cylinder portion 15 is provided with swollen segments 18 for directing cooling water toward a communication groove 17. Due to this fact, a flow of cooling water is formed at the communication groove 17 to enable cylinders 2, 3 to be positively cooled. A slit 19 formed when the communication groove 17 is worked by a milling cutter 20 is opened upwardly at the swollen segments 18. Since the swollen segments 18 do not influence against strength of a cylinder block, no special problem occurs even if the slit 19 is present.</p> |
